The Corner Boys define community as a large group of people working together to accomplish more than a single person would be able to achieve by themselves.  A community provides goods and services and job opportunities to one another that increase the quality of life of its members.  The aim of a stable community is to provide a safe environment for hard working individuals and provide shelter and food for those less fortunate members of the community .  Communities can also provide opportunities for spiritual growth and people who share a common interest in a certain activity.
A sustainable community has a solid foundation if a solid legal system is put in place.  If there are set in stone rules to abide by, then people will be forced to follow them, or pay the price.  The community leadership has to be supportive and provide for its citizens without being too intrusive in their lives.  Another characteristic of what makes a sustainable community is if all people work together to make the community a better place.  Citizens should feel safe and feel that the higher power is taking responsibility for their actions.
A couple of examples of sustainable communities are cities and sports fans.  Cities are one of the examples because they have legal systems, public works, police officers to enforce the law, firefighters to protect citizens from danger, programs to get involved in, homeless shelters, places to work and raise a family.  Sports fans are considered a community because they support the same team and all have a common interest for that team: winning.
